CMS Website Configuration File Web Part¶

This Web Part is used to manage the contents of the web.config file of the website. Application Settings used in the Web Part are defined in Web.config Application Settings.

This Web Part is accessed by the CMS Admin Panel.

More about the web.config file¶

This Web Part cannot be used to configure CMS Roles that are allowed to edit pages. That function is covered in CMS Web Part Authorization, which defines the users and roles that have access to Personalize the website. This can be defined site-wide or per folder.

Other functions that are tightly linked to the web.config file include:

Folder Configuration is used by the COR Administrator to edit a subset of application settings for a folder.
Software Packages Configuration configures the Web Part Libraries that are accessible to pages within a folder. The reduces the list of Web Parts that can be added to a page in Library mode.
Manage CMS Roles for Folders provides a finer granularity to what functions (library, edit, design) that a CMS Role has access to pages in a folder.

Edit Properties¶

The Edit Properties include:

Admin Role: The Role that is allowed to view and edit the web.config file.
Show Database: this option is used to display Connection Strings to the administrator. Connection Strings should be private, unless you really need to see them.
Path: the path to the web.config file. The default is the website root, '~/'. However, since each folder can also contain a web.config file, you may override the default to set application settings for other folders.
Themes: a comma-delimited list of themes that the website is allowed to assign to the website. COR contains a number of different themes. However, most websites use one and can be limited by setting this option.
