Appying COR Roles to Web Pages¶

Roles may be applied to web pages or Web Parts. This page explains different access examples.

Getting Started with Roles¶

Define a new Role using the COR Create Role Web Part.
- Roles are now available to be used for Role Permissions.
Assign the Role to a COR User in the COR Assign Roles Web Part.
COR User logs in. The Roles are now applied to pages and Web Parts.

Roles and the Web Page¶

Roles are applied to web pages by adding the COR Role Permissions Web Part to the web page. This Web Part defines:

The Roles allowed to view the page.
An option that identifies whether Guests are allowed to view content on the page.
- This option is only applicable if all Roles can view the page.
The Roles allowed to edit the page.

The page can be configured so that:

All users see all page content.
Logged in COR Users see all page content (Guests see no content).
Logged in COR Users with specific Roles see all page content.

Similarly, edit permissions can be configured so that:

All logged in COR Users can edit page content.
Logged in COR Uses with specific Roles can edit page content.

Roles and the Web Part¶

COR Web Parts have Permission options that can be defined for the Web Part when the Login Type is 'COR' or 'Both'. They include:

The Roles allowed to view the Web Part.
An option that identifies whether Guests are allowed to view the Web Part.
- This option is only applicable if all Roles can view the Web Part.
The Roles allowed to edit the Web Part.

Permissions for Web Parts provide more flexibility in terms of how page content is viewed and what logged in COR Users can edit the content.

The Web Part can be configured so that:

All users see the Web Part content.
Logged in COR Users see the Web Part content (Guests do not see the content).
Logged in COR Users with specific Roles see the Web Part content.

Similarly, edit permissions can be configured so that:

All logged in COR Users can edit Web Part content.
Logged in COR Uses with specific Roles can edit Web Part content.
