Procedure: Create CMS User

This page explains how to create a new CMS User.

Preamble

A CMS User is responsible for editing content on the website. Content may only be edited by users with an existing Role that permits CMS Edits.

Note: It is possible to create CMS Roles that are not used to edit CMS Content.

Procedure

  1. A CMS User is created using the Create CMS User Web Part.
  2. Once the user is defined, a logged in user must add a role to the new CMS User.
  3. Review the roles assigned to other users using the Review CMS Users Roles Web Part found in the CMS Admin Panel - Role Management.
  4. Roles are assigned to the new CMS User using the Assign Roles to CMS User Web Part found in the CMS Admin Panel - Role Management.
    • Default Roles include: WebMaster and Admin, where the Admin has access to extra tools for debugging the site.
    • For large sites, it is recommended that an Editor role for new users, where this role can access a subset of pages.
