CMS Navigation Menu Editor Web Part

Figure 1 shows the Navigation Menu Editor when the page is in Browse mode. Figure 2 shows the Navigation Menu Editor when the page is in Edit mode.

This Web Part is used by the CMS Administrator to edit the Navigation Links File. It is used to add, delete and edit links. Once completed, all Web Part that use the Navigation Links File sees an updated view - this includes: Site Map and Links Files.

Figure 3 shows the Navigation Menu Editor when one of the links is being edited. The navigation file contains the following fields:
  • Page Name: name of the page
  • Navigation Url: address for the page
  • Menu Name: menu that the page belongs to
  • Target window: window to open the page in. Default is '', which opens the page in the existing browser window.
  • Description: ToolTip when user hovers over menu item.
  • Login Type: the type of Login that is used for the Web Part.
  • Roles: If the Login Type is set to COR or Jetfire, then add a comma-delimited list of Roles that are allowed access to the Web Part.
  • User preferred language: select a language that this Web Part provides.
  • Devices: select Normal, Mobile or All devices to display Web Part on
  • Image Url: Used with the Image navigation menu option.
  • Mouse-over Image Url: Used with the Image navigation menu option.
  • Selected Image Url: Used with the Image navigation menu option.
  • Include in sitemap?: Used with the Google Site map.
  • Change Frequency: Used with the Google Site map.
  • Priority: Used with the Google Site map.

Figure 3 shows the Navigation Menu Editor when one of the links is being edited. The navigation file contains the following fields:
  • Page Name
  • Navigation Url
  • Menu Name
  • Target window
  • Description
  • Login Type
  • Roles

This Web Part is accessed by the CMS Admin Panel.

Customizing the Navigation Menu Editor Part

Custom Edit properties for the Link Lists include:
  • Xml file for Navigation Links
  • Menu Name - typically set as 'Home'.
  • Save to Database? - an option that allows the user to save changes to the navigation file.
  • Orientation of links: Vertical, Horizontal
  • Simple Menu Editor? - an option that minimizes the number of fields saved to the navigation menu.
  • Common COR Edit Features
