Browse/Edit/Library Paradigm

Getting Started

Let's start by logging into your website.
  1. Go to the Login page
  2. Enter your user name and password and click Login
    • Note that you can remember your user name for the next time that you login.

  1. Once you are logged in, you see your user name in the top-right corner of the page along with:
    • Edit
    • Library
    • Logout
    • Help (optional)
  2. Browse is not shown because you are in the Browse mode.

Browse/Edit/Library Paradigm

Edit the page to see the Zones on the Page by clicking the Edit link beside your user name.

  • The page now displays
    • Library
    • Browse
    • Logout
    • Help (optional)

  • Red headers denote the Zones on the page
    • e.g. Horizontal Top is the name of the top Zone.
  • Graphics and text that are not inside of a Zone is fixed on the page. It is referred to as static information.
  • Graphics and text in a Zone belongs to that zone.
    • Information with the Gray Headers denote a Web Part.
    • You can drag and drop Web Parts from one Zone to another Zone (using Internet Explorer)
    • If you are using FireFox, then moving Web Part between Zones is done in the Layout Editor (edit the Web Part and go to the bottom of the Properties)
  • To edit the Web Part, just click the 'Edit' link in the Gray header.

Click 'Library' to see the Library of Web Part catalogs on the right side of the page.

  • The page now displays
    • Edit
    • Browse
    • Logout
    • Help (optional)

Each Web Part catalog has a number of Web Parts that are displayed when you click the link for the catalog (not shown).

To add a Web Part to the page,
  1. select a Web Part from the Web Part catalog (put a check in the box beside the Web Part)
  2. select the Zone where the Web Part will be added to (below list of Web Parts)
  3. click 'Add' beside the Zone.

You are on your way to becoming a webmaster.
